Before entering wrestling, Leavine was a former football player at the Florida International University and was briefly with the NFL Miami Dolphins. He also has been trained in jiu-jitsu and other forms of MMA. Leavine was also a former amateur wrestler in his local high school.[3]
In early 2010, Leavine signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment, being assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling. Under the name of "Kevin Hackman", Leavine only took part in a couple of matches before being released in February 2011 to participate on Tough Enough.
In March 2011, Leavine was announced as one of the fourteen contestants for the revival of WWE Tough Enough.[4] Leavine was described as one of the 'top dogs' in the competition, making it to the final two with Luke Robinson. He was announced the winner of Tough Enough on the June 6 episode of Raw by Stone Cold Steve Austin who gave him a Stone Cold Stunner after being slapped by Vince McMahon, as a welcoming gift to the WWE.[5]
Aside from appearing on Raw for winning season five of Tough Enough, Andy made his on-screen debut on the June 13, 2011 episode of Raw. He was shown backstage talking with the general manager for the week, Stone Cold Steve Austin. The two were celebrating Andy's victory on Tough Enough before being interrupted by CM Punk.
Leavine confirmed in an interview on WWE.com that he will be training in Florida Championship Wrestling before heading to one of the main WWE rosters. Leavine returned to the FCW training center for most of June and July. Leavine was suspended on August 15, 2011 for violating WWE's Wellness Policy. Leavine returned to action on the November 20 episode of FCW, under the name Kevin Hackman.
Andy resides in Tampa, Florida with his wife Lauren and his daughter and son.
